THE FOLLOWING ARE A SAMPLE AND NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF RECENT VERDICTS AND SETTLEMENTS.

Marc J. Reiter obtained a verdict in excess of $215,000 on behalf of young pregnant mother who slipped and fell on snow and ice causing her to prematurely deliver her baby. The baby died within minutes of birth.  Suit was brought against the landlord who failed to maintain the steps in question.  The landlord vehemently denied that he was negligent.  Further, the Defendant's medical experts, a doctor from Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh, and a doctor from a well known hospital in Philadelphia, both provided testimony that the premature delivery and death of the baby were not due to the fall.  The Defendant’s experts testified that an infection called bacterial vaginosis caused the membranes surrounding the baby (amniotic sac) to rupture.  Plaintiff’s medical expert testified that the fall caused the rupture of the membranes leading to the premature delivery and death of the baby. The jury determined that the landlord was negligent, and that the rupture of the membranes and resulting death of the baby were caused by the fall.

Marc J. Reiter obtained a settlement of $120,000 on behalf of eighty four (84) year old client who tripped on an uneven sidewalk and suffered a serious hip fracture requiring surgery involving a metal rod being inserted in the Plaintiff’s leg.

Marc J. Reiter obtained a verdict on behalf of a client who fell over a pallet at local grocery store suffering serious injuries including Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy.

Marc J. Reiter obtained a verdict against the Pittsburgh Police in a Section 1983 Civil Rights cases involving allegations of false arrest and false imprisonment.  It was alleged that the police arrested the client without probable cause, and wrongfully arrested/imprisoned him in an homicide interrogation room against his will for more than eight hours.  The police alleged that the client, whose friend had been murdered, remained voluntarily at the Homocide Division and that he was free to leave at any time.

Reiter obtained a verdict on behalf of his client who was a building contractor, and suffered a herniated disc in his lumbar spine when his car was struck from behind by another vehicle.  As a result of the injury, the client was required to treat extensively with a physiatrist (physical medicine doctor) and with his chiropractor.  Further, as a result of the injuries, Plaintiff had a significant loss of business income.
